Rappahannock Community College (RCC), founded in 1970, provides high-quality educational and training opportunities throughout a 12-county service region an hour east of Richmond on the beautiful western shore of the Chesapeake Bay with access to fresh local seafood and water activities. RCC delivers accessible and affordable educational opportunities, including for-credit transfer and career technical programs, robust distance education coursework, quality dual enrollment courses, and award-winning workforce training and credentialing programs. RCC’s annualized enrollment of 3,700 credit students in 2024-2025 and almost 800 workforce and community development students are supported by almost 140 full-time employees and over 200 part-time/adjunct employees across two main campuses and four satellite sites.

RCC invites you to apply for an Adjunct Nursing Instructor position at our Glenns and Warsaw campuses and our remote clinical agencies to provide laboratory and clinical supervision for all levels of nursing students. Several part-time opportunities are available, including:

1. Nursing Didactic Instructors(s) for Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program
2. Nursing Laboratory/Clinical Instructors(s) for Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program
3. Nursing Didactic/Laboratory/Clinical Instructors (s) for the Practical Nursing (PN) program
4. Nurse Aide Instructor(s)
Nursing faculty work across programs to provide for the educational needs of students. Adjunct instructors are invited and encouraged to participate in the governance of the nursing unit.

The College desires candidates with a commitment to the community college mission and experience working in a varied student population, including adult learners and at-risk students. The successful candidate will be committed to academic excellence, continuous improvement through professional development, assessment, program and course development, and creating a collegial environment of civility, collaboration and open communication. The college strives for a faculty of content experts who are also knowledgeable about best practices, innovative strategies, and instructional technologies that support teaching and learning.

These positions may be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. Minimum Qualifications:

Nursing Didactic Instructors(s) for Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program:
Minimum requirements: Master's degree in Nursing, or hold a baccalaureate degree and be actively enrolled in a graduate program. RN license with two years of direct client care experience.

Nursing Laboratory/Clinical Instructors(s) for Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program:
Minimum requirements: Baccalaureate degree or hold an associate degree and be actively enrolled in a baccalaureate program. RN license with two years of direct client care experience.

Nursing Didactic/Laboratory/Clinical Instructors (s) for the Practical Nursing (PN) program:
Minimum requirements: Baccalaureate degree in nursing, or hold an associate degree and be actively enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program. RN license with two years of direct client care experience.

Nurse Aide Instructor(s):
Minimum requirements: Licensed practical nurse, at least one-year direct client care experience as a nurse. Evidence of completion of the Nurse Aide Train-the-Trainer course or willingness to complete within 30 days of hire.Additional Considerations:

Nursing Didactic Instructors(s) for Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program:
Preferred requirements: Critical Care, Maternal-Child Nursing, Pediatric Nursing and/or Mental Health Nursing experience desirable in addition to medical/surgical experience. At least one year of experience teaching pre-licensure education preferred. Must possess a strong desire to teach adult learners.

Nursing Laboratory/Clinical Instructors(s) for Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program:
Preferred requirements: Critical Care, Maternal-Child Nursing, Pediatric Nursing and/or Mental Health Nursing experience desirable in addition to medical/surgical experience. At least one year of experience teaching pre-licensure education preferred. Must possess a strong desire to teach adult learners.

Nursing Didactic/Laboratory/Clinical Instructors (s) for the Practical Nursing (PN) program:
Preferred requirements: Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) with the above experience plus long-term care experience. At least one year of experience teaching pre-licensure education is preferred.

Nurse Aide Instructor(s):
Preferred requirements: At least one year of experience teaching pre-licensure education.
