Job Title: Head of Supply Chain
Elevation Procurement & Supply Chain are delighted to be working exclusively with a well-established Metals Fabrication business based in Wakefield, as they look to hire a Head of Supply Chain into their team.
The Head of Supply Chain will be based on the Wakefield site but will also oversee two other sites in Yorkshire, with a total of 350 employees. This role is pivotal in overseeing and optimizing the purchasing, planning, and materials supply for this £50m+ turnover business.
The successful candidate will manage the purchasing and planning teams, ensuring a robust and sustainable supply chain for materials and components, aligned with business needs, while maximizing quality and reliability and maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage long-term materials management strategy and oversee daily procurement activities for raw materials, components, equipment, and supplies required for production.
2. Responsible for procurement, supplier development, inventory management, sales and operations planning, master data management, supplier quality, reporting, and budgeting.
3. Develop and ensure the supply chain functions align with business objectives to add value, mitigate risks, and deliver cost savings.
4. Lead supply chain processes, applying best practices and continuous improvement to provide excellent customer service.
5. Manage relationships with global suppliers, internal and external customers, peers, and managers.
6. Collaborate closely with manufacturing on daily operations.
7. Contribute to strategic planning and new product introductions.
8. Provide relevant and timely reports and communications to stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience:
1. Experience managing purchasing and stores functions.
2. Comprehensive understanding of metals buying.
3. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
4. Proven track record of continuous improvement initiatives.
5. Experience in lean manufacturing principles.
6. At least 5 years of experience in supply chain management or operational roles, preferably in a similar environment.
