Role Summary
As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to deliver the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA standards, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role exemplifies leadership, delegation, collaboration, and effective communication to ensure quality outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
* Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families, incorporating cultural and diversity considerations.
* Communicate and collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
* Respect patients' values, preferences, and expressed needs in holistic care planning and evaluation.
Standards of Practice and Performance
The RN adheres to ANA standards for nursing practice and professional performance, including ethical conduct, culturally congruent practice, effective communication, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, resource utilization, and environmental health.
Qualifications
* Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
* Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
* Licensed and registered in Connecticut; clinical specialty certification encouraged.
Physical Demands
Prolonged standing, walking, and the use of sight, hearing, and touch. Exposure to infectious diseases and physical, mental, and emotional stressors, including end-of-life care. Ability to assist with patient handling up to 300 pounds.
Additional Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of acute care or oncology RN experience required.
