🔧 The Opportunity
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and driven Engineer to join our Energy Business, supporting the testing and commissioning of electrical Automation and Control Systems — from small modifications to full system replacements.
This role is ideal for:
* Existing Commissioning Engineers, or
* Test Engineers looking to step into site‑based commissioning work.
You’ll work between our Stone Head Office and client sites across the UK, contributing to the delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
🛠 What You’ll Be Doing
* Carry out site acceptance testing and commissioning in line with approved documentation
* Support and perform factory acceptance testing
* Provide technical supervision of installation works on client sites
* Ensure all work meets required technical procedures, methods and standards
* Produce and manage the project commissioning file
* Control and mark‑up drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams
* Develop and review commissioning and test documentation
* Deploy configuration files to SCADA BCUs, RTUs, PLCs, IEDs and network devices
* Support preparation of site equipment and materials
* Manage commissioning spares and test equipment
* Control LOTO processes and safe working procedures
* Carry out and document fault‑finding activities
👤 About You
You’ll bring:
* Qualification or strong experience in Electrical Engineering
* Good understanding of test & commissioning methodology
* Experience fault‑finding on electrical/electronic systems
* Understanding of communication networks (Ethernet, fibre, serial, etc.)
* Knowledge of electrical safety and LOTO
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* BS7671 18th Edition + C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing
* Experience with National Grid substations and secondary systems
* Experience with SCADA systems
* Strong communication, teamwork and analytical skills
* Flexibility, resilience and the ability to work under pressure
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
