Oldham Athletic A.F.C. Performance Analysis Internship Programme 2026/27 Role Overview Oldham Athletic A.F.C. are offering two internship opportunities within First Team Performance Analysis for the 2026/27 season. This role provides valuable, hands‑on experience within a professional football environment, supporting the day‑to‑day analytical processes of the First Team.
The successful candidates will collaborate closely with coaching, analysis, and sports science staff to assist in delivering performance insights to players. Applicants should currently be studying a relevant degree and undertaking a Sandwich Year placement. Ideally, candidates will be based in the Northwest or able to travel regularly to Boundary Park and the club’s training facilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Support the preparation of pre-match analysis, including reports and video content on upcoming opponents
* Record First Team matches and training sessions for analysis purposes
* Carry out both live and post-match coding using analysis software (Hudl Sportscode)
* Assist in producing video clips for team, unit, and individual performance reviews
* Help manage and update performance data and statistical records
* Contribute to opposition analysis by identifying key patterns, strengths, and weaknesses
* Maintain and organise the club’s best practice folder
* Assist with wider departmental tasks, including research and performance-related projects
* Follow all club policies, particularly in relation to safeguarding, health & safety, and data handling Education & Experience
Education & Experience
* Currently studying towards a degree in Football, Sports Science, Performance Analysis, or a related discipline
* Completing a Sandwich Year or similar work placement
* Previous experience in a performance analysis role within sport is desirable
* Basic understanding of analysis tools (e.g. Hudl, Sportscode, Wyscout etc.) is beneficial
Person Specification
* Strong knowledge of football tactics and technical concepts
* Genuine interest in performance analysis and player development
* Reliable and able to commit for the duration of the 2026/27 season
* Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
* Trustworthy and capable of handling confidential information
* Proactive, organised, and eager to develop new skills
* Good communication and teamwork abilities
* Confident using IT systems and software
* Full UK driving licence (preferred) or ability to travel independently
This is a hybrid position combining on‑site and remote work. Attendance at matches, training sessions, and key meetings will be required, including some evenings and weekends.
