Job Description:
The role involves using numerical tools (FEA, Matlab, Python) to analyze aspects of submarine structures, enabling the UK fleet to operate effectively and improving tools and designs for future platforms.
While the role has a specific focus, there will be opportunities to contribute to the group’s wider work streams, including propulsor and propeller design, dynamic stability, quasi-static stability, seakeeping, resistance, and propulsion of surface ships and submarines.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Providing effective leadership and coordination of engineering and technical activities to deliver projects.
2. Applying subject matter expertise and sound engineering judgment to solve problems.
3. Breaking down complex tasks and executing planned schedules.
4. Managing projects to meet quality, timescale, and budget requirements.
5. Delivering technical presentations and discussing work at external forums, including conferences and customer meetings.
Essential experience of the Associate Maritime Structural Engineer:
* Experience with Finite Element Analysis.
* Understanding of structural assessment, preferably for maritime structures.
Essential qualifications for the Associate Maritime Structural Engineer:
* BEng / MEng in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a relevant field.
