A progressive secondary school in Bridgend is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant (also known as a Behaviour Mentor or Behaviour Officer) to work closely with students who need additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement in school life.

Your Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with pastoral and teaching staff to provide a consistent and supportive presence for students who struggle with behaviour, emotional needs, or attendance. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups with behaviour, motivation, and emotional regulation
* De-escalating challenging situations calmly and professionally
* Promoting positive behaviour through tailored interventions and mentoring
* Recording behaviour incidents and helping implement behaviour support plans
* Encouraging students to re-engage with learning and school routines

Who We're Looking For:
We’d love to hear from candidates who:
* Have strong communication and de-escalation skills
* Are confident, calm, and approachable under pressure
* Understand the challenges faced by young people in education
* Have experience in youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or similar roles
* Are passionate about helping young people develop both emotionally and academically
Prior experience in schools is welcome but not essential – transferable skills are highly valued.

* EWC registration (School Learning Support Worker category)
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
* Two references from your most recent roles
