Salary: Band G (£42,839 to £48,226)
Contract Type: Full‑time, Permanent
Location: Operations and Development Centre, Roway Lane Oldbury, B69 3ES / Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE / Hybrid.
Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Asset Management and Improvement team as a Building Safety Manager. You will play a key role in shaping and implementing the council’s strategies for Building, Structural & Fire Safety across all high‑rise buildings. You will manage the Building Safety work streams on assigned blocks, prepare project briefs, assist with project planning, and support the Building Safety programme to ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act.
Responsibilities & Duties
* Able to undertake Building Risk Assessments, Fire Risk Assessments and collate all relevant “Golden Thread” information and safety case reports that comply with the Building Safety Act 2022.
* Conduct type 1 to type 4 fire risk assessments of high‑risk residential buildings and business premises.
* Serve as a technical authority on all aspects of building safety to support the wider business.
* Manage a program of audits and inspections ensuring the safety case is always current based on review dates.
* Provide residential (HRB) building management experience.
Qualification and Experience
* Level 4 diploma in fire risk assessments.
* Commitment to obtaining CIOB Level 6 diploma in building safety management or equivalent.
* Current knowledge of and experience working with the Building Safety Act and related secondary legislation.
