Job Summary
The Chief Renal Technologist will have to be able to effectively manage a range of responsibilities, including ensuring that all renal dialysis equipment in any of the haemodialysis treatment areas is fully supported and working appropriately. The role involves leading a small team, prioritising workload, and ensuring completion of tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
* BEng or equivalent work‑based qualification in electronic/mechanical/clinical engineering (Essential)
* Full driving licence and relevant business‑related insurance cover (Essential)
* Registered as a clinical technologist (Desirable)
* Member of a professional body, e.g. Association of Renal Technologists (Desirable)
* Management qualification or evidence of experience (Desirable)
* Experience in maintenance and repair of a wide range of dialysis‑related medical equipment (Essential)
* Experience with electronic test and measurement/fault diagnosis equipment and practical skills in electronic/mechanical repair procedures (Essential)
* Evidence of ability to service, repair, and calibrate Fresenius haemodialysis equipment, multifiltrate machines and related reverse osmosis machinery (Essential)
* Experience working within a quality management system (Essential)
* Expert understanding and knowledge of medical equipment and the environments in which it is used (Essential)
* Expert knowledge of legislation related to medical devices (Essential)
* Expert knowledge of health and safety requirements in a dialysis facility (Essential)
* Evidence of ability to undertake risk assessments, e.g. Health & Safety, COSHH, and develop clear action plans (Essential)
* Experience evaluating new renal medical equipment, including assessment of clinical suitability, reliability and lifetime costs (Essential)
* Experience effectively managing technical services within a multi‑site trust with minimal disruption (Essential)
* Experience prioritising workload to meet service level agreements (Essential)
* Experience working at Band 6 level in Renal Services (Essential)
* Experience managing a team (Essential)
