Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS) Infection Sciences department. Applicants should hold a CCT in either Microbiology or a joint Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical microbiology services as part of a team of four Consultant Microbiologists based at Royal Stoke University Hospital (University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust) and a Consultant Microbiologist based at Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust, collectively offering a comprehensive clinical Microbiology / ID service to the Trusts served by the NMCPS.
* Participate in ward rounds and MDT meetings each week.
* Engage with robust IP and AMS teams.
* Support the well‑equipped automated laboratory and highly skilled technical team.
* Assist in maintaining UKAS accreditation against ISO 15189 and participation in relevant EQA schemes.
Qualifications
* CCT in Microbiology or joint Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
Working arrangements
The post is full‑time with an allocation of 11.5 PAs (including on call) and category B rating (5%) for out‑of‑hours work. The Trust welcomes discussion with individuals looking for a more flexible working pattern to support a work‑life balance.
