Job Description:
What is the job role?
This post is 22.2 hours per week – for 3 days a week all year round. (pro-rata salary £14, - £16,).
Fixed-term contract for 12 months.
We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Early Years Business, Sufficiency and Funding team.
The purpose of this role is:
* To work in the community promoting and providing high-quality information and advice about childcare and related matters to parents, carers, students, employers, childcare providers, and professionals.
* To ensure that all information held at the Family Information Service is accurate, up to date, of quality, and fully compliant with Data Protection requirements and legislation such as GDPR and Freedom of Information.
* To support the Family Information Service (FIS) contribution to the Childcare sufficiency agenda and statutory duties for information by collecting data.
A key element of the post is community-based activities: attending events, visiting local groups, and engaging with key partners to ensure effective dissemination of information. The role involves weekly outreach, office time, and home working.
You will work under the direction of the Family Information Service and Data Manager to ensure files and directories in the database are updated, accurate, and reviewed regularly. You will be the key person responsible for dealing with childcare inquiries, supporting access to early education entitlements, and providing brokerage support to families to enable them to work or access training.
The successful candidate must be prepared to visit locations across the city as part of their weekly work plan and work outside normal hours on an ad hoc basis at events to promote the service.
This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; appointment is conditional upon a satisfactory DBS check.
Who are we looking for?
You should be able to communicate complex information effectively to parents, carers, and professionals via phone and email, ensuring their needs are met with clarity and appropriateness.
You should be able to resolve inquiries and signpost to relevant agencies, supporting in-depth childcare brokerage and funding inquiries.
Excellent communication skills are required for liaising with childcare providers to maintain an accurate database of childcare provision, vacancies, costs, and activities for children aged birth to 20.
Experience in delivering information to diverse audiences and representing early years’ services at events across Coventry is essential.
You will gather data to assist in managing the childcare market, liaising with partners regarding current provision, gaps, and demand.
Key Requirements
* A relevant Level 3 childcare qualification or equivalent work experience demonstrating the necessary skills.
* Level 3 NVQ or above in Advice and Guidance, Customer Service, or relevant experience.
* Relevant ICT qualifications and skills for developing systems and analyzing data.
The role suits individuals with experience in childcare who can communicate effectively at all levels and have a positive, practical approach to ICT and social media.
Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of the Childcare Act, Data Protection Act, and Freedom of Information Act, as well as understanding of childcare services and good planning, organizational, and online research skills.
We offer a friendly, supportive environment, a commitment to high standards, and opportunities to gain experience in early years education.
Your application should:
* Explain your interest in the role and how your experience aligns with its challenges and opportunities.
* Detail your experience and how you meet the person specification with evidence of your impact.
