What you’ll do:
Responsible for managing the day-to-day running of projects, managing business and client needs, whilst working within a set timeframe and managing budgets to adhere to contract requirements. Creating clear and robust project plans and documentation packs to be rolled out across site managers and field teams, monitoring overall project performance and financials, as well as ensuring safety compliance on the full project lifecycle. Representing Ground Control with clients, building and maintaining strong relationships, and building rapport.
Key Responsibilities:
* Team management: Oversee and support direct staff and field teams to meet project requirements, ensuring full inductions and job requirements are outlined before works commence.
* Maintain regular communication with the team and site managers to monitor project progress.
* Team Development: Mentor and support direct reports, providing development opportunities, training, and mentoring to enhance workforce skills. Manage performance effectively to meet role requirements.
* Onboarding: Source and onboard field teams, managing skills and compliance with project and business needs, working closely with FT onboarding to meet all compliance requirements.
* Project resourcing: Evaluate team skills and capabilities, assign the best fit to projects, and work with procurement to ensure resource availability.
* Stakeholder management: Act as the main contact for clients, maintaining communication to understand their needs, provide updates, and develop future business plans.
* Project management: Manage multiple projects throughout their lifecycle, produce documentation, conduct planning, and manage project requirements.
* Project scope: Oversee regional projects up to £1m, within designated timeframes and specifications.
* Financial management: Manage project budgets, negotiate costs, monitor expenditure, and report to senior leaders, practicing risk management.
* Compliance, health, and safety: Ensure team and site compliance, conduct audits and risk assessments, and work with HSQE to meet standards. Prepare reports for clients.
* Business Development: Identify opportunities and develop tenders for new work.
What we’re looking for:
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
* Industry knowledge and experience
* NVQ Level 5 in relevant arboriculture and/or rail qualification
* 3–5 years’ management experience
* Willingness to travel
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
* Experience in the Rail industry
* Experience in manual roles within the industry or similar
* Holds COSS qualification (training provided)
* SMSTS qualification (training provided)
