We are working with a well-established industrial manufacturer seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor with a strong mechanical bias to lead maintenance operations on a range of heavy machinery and plant equipment. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring high equipment reliability, driving maintenance performance, and leading a team of engineers in a fast-paced production environment. Our client is looking for someone who can combine strong technical mechanical knowledge with proven leadership ability, ensuring that maintenance standards are upheld while continuously improving performance, uptime, and team capability. The Job Lead, supervise, and support a team of maintenance engineers and technicians, ensuring safe and effective working practices. Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and coordinate reactive maintenance to minimise downtime. Ensure the reliability and performance of heavy machinery, plant equipment, and mechanical systems. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, efficiency, and maintenance performance. Monitor and analyse maintenance KPIs, implementing actions to improve performance where required. Provide hands-on technical support and guidance on mechanical fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs. Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption to production operations. Promote and enforce health & safety standards and compliance across the maintenance team. Develop team capability through mentoring, coaching, and performance management. Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to improve plant reliability and operational performance. Candidate Requirements Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally within heavy industry, manufacturing, or process environments. Proven experience maintaining and troubleshooting heavy machinery and industrial equipment. Demonstrable experience leading and supervising maintenance teams. A track record of driving maintenance performance, improving reliability, and reducing downtime. Strong problem-solving and fault-finding capabilities. Experience managing preventative and reactive maintenance programmes. Good understanding of health & safety and engineering compliance within an industrial environment. Ability to motivate teams and drive high standards of performance and accountability. Qualifications Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering). Experience using CMMS / maintenance management systems. Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, TPM, etc.).
