Overview
We are looking for a passionate RVN that is open to a different way of working - in a mobile veterinary practice. The role allows you to see the patient in their own home (or on the fully equipped veterinary van, if that is better for the patient), giving one-on-one individualised care right outside the client's home. It reduces the stress on the patient, client, and yourself as nothing is rushed.
Responsibilities
* Be comfortable driving the mobile veterinary van on a daily basis. Each day you will either: drive the van and work alongside the veterinary surgeon; or if doing nurse clinic days, the VCA will drive the van while you do your clinical notes, or make any client phone calls, if needed. (Please note: We have a separate designated receptionist in our office for any incoming client phone calls).
* Assist the veterinary surgeon during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
* Prepare animals for surgical procedures and provide post-operative care. We only see one patient/client at a time, so it is one nurse-to-one patient recovery care. We do not leave the client's home until we are happy to do so.
* Help manage the daily appointment diary and also partake in managing your own day/appointment times.
* Option to run your own nurse clinic days either with a veterinary care assistant, or on your own.
* Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the veterinary van.
* Assist in the management of inventory, including ordering supplies as needed.
Qualifications
* Be on the RCVS register of veterinary nurses.
* Have strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
* Have the ability to problem solve and think on your feet.
* Be able to multitask.
* Have good time keeping skills in order to partake in managing your own appointment diary.
* Have a positive attitude and the ability to work with a small team.
* Have a Full UK drivers license (the van has a manual transmission).
Hours
* Full time (4 days a week) or part time (3 days a week), 8-6pm (with possible overtime), Monday to Friday.
* No OOH/On Call, weekends, or bank holidays.
