About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Legal & Company Secretary, you will be part of the supportive and friendly Risk and Governance team. You will be employed on a permanent and full-time basis.
This position plays a key role in supporting the effective functioning of the Legal team. You will assist in managing legal matters to ensure they are handled efficiently, thoroughly, and in alignment with Adica’s regulatory obligations. You will also collaborate with other members of the Risk and Governance department to provide legal support as needed.
What You'll Be Responsible For
* Advise Adica’s business units and senior management on legal matters and provide end-to-end support in relation to financial services regulation, commercial contracting, incident management and privacy and data matters impacting the business.
* Draft and negotiate contracts with third parties and suppliers.
* Liaise with auditors, regulators (e.g., APRA, ASIC, AFCA, OAIC), and external counsel.
* Prepare legal correspondence, submissions, and documentation.
* Support legal projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive information.
* Perform other duties as required.
What You'll Bring
* A current and unrestricted Australian practising certificate.
* 3 – 5 years' PQE with broad experience in financial service laws and general corporate/commercial law, including the Corporations Act, Australian Consumer Law and insurance legislation.
* Ability to differentiate between, and deliver advice of a highly technical, legalistic nature and advice that is commercially astute and easily understood by stakeholders.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a pro‑active approach to problem‑solving and attention to detail.
* Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, both as an internal legal adviser and in liaison with external law firms.
