An exciting Apprentice opportunity has arisen to work with our Repairs Policy and Improvement Team as Repairs and Maintenance Support Officer, Level 3 Housing.
We are looking for candidates who have some experience of surveying domestic properties and diagnosing repair work to work as part of Sheffield City Council's Housing and Neighbourhood Service, within our Repairs Policy and Improvement Team.
The team carry out a varied role including management of disrepair cases and permission requests from customers to make alterations to their homes.
You will study towards a Level 3 Housing apprenticeship, due to the level of study it is desirable that you have Level 3 Maths and English CSE - grade 1 GCSE - grades 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 or grades A*, A, B, C. If you do not have these there will be the expectation that you will work towards this during your apprenticeship.
Specifics of the Role
You will need to have:
1. Some experience of surveying domestic properties and diagnosing repairs required.
2. Well-developed communication skills both face to face and over the telephone.
3. High levels of empathy and passion for delivering a high level of customer service, you will often be dealing with customers in their own homes. On occasion you may need to explain matters that they are not in agreement with.
4. Able to work on your own initiative, plan and prioritise own workload and deliver to tight deadlines.
5. Ability to quickly develop positive relationships with customers and colleagues and work collaboratively with different departments across the council.
6. Good judgement and decision-making skills, recognising when matters need escalating to a Senior Officer.
7. You will need to contribute to the planning and organising of your own workload.
8. A positive can-do attitude to bring to the job.
The team are based at Solpro Business Park, Attercliffe, Sheffield. There is a requirement for the postholder to carry out site visits to customers’ homes and properties across the city. The team work a hybrid model and this post will spend 50-60% working out on site with the remainder of time either working in the office or remotely at home.
Trained to post-upon completion of your apprenticeship you will earn a salary of £25,584 annually as of today’s rate of pay at Grade 4.
