Norfolk County Council is seeking keen, enthusiastic, and self‑motivated individuals to join our Highways teams as part of the Highways Apprentice Technician Training Programme.

You will work across a range of Highways teams through rotational placements designed to maximise your learning and experience. You should have an interest in highways, engineering, and how infrastructure supports communities, along with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning.

As part of the programme, you will enrol in further education starting September 2026.

For the Apprenticeship Technician (Civil Engineering) route, you will undertake the Level 3 Civil Engineering Technician course (typically day‑release at City College Norwich), with further training and support to achieve Engineering Technician (EngTech) professional status. The apprenticeship normally takes three years, with an additional year for the professional qualification.

Entry Requirements

You will need:

1. GCSE Grade 4/C in English (Language or Literature)
2. GCSE Grade 5/B in Maths
3. GCSE Science Grade 4/C (advantageous)

You will also be expected to take responsibility for your own development, including maintaining training reports and keeping your Personal Development Plan up to date.
