The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is a strategic priority for BT. ESN will be one of the most advanced Emergency Services Networks in the world, providing mission-critical communications for Britain’s Emergency Services. It will replace the Airwave network and enhance EE’s existing 4G network to deliver new voice, data, and critical communication services to 300,000 frontline emergency service members.
The IP Transport Specialist will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of BT’s mobile IP Transport network for both commercial and Emergency Services customers, ensuring network reliability, security, and performance in test & innovation environments.
The successful candidate must be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum and may need to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g., CTC, SC, or NPPV).
What you’ll be doing
* Configure and deploy network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls supporting ESN infrastructure
* Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity, performance, and security incidents
* Monitor network performance and security, applying updates and patches; implement security protocols
* Provide operational support to maintain network stability and performance, manage changes, and respond to incidents
* Collaborate with design teams, system administrators, and stakeholders to ensure network reliability

What we would like to see on your CV
* Expertise in IP Transport, Nokia SR 7750 IPsec GW framework, Cisco Nexus 7000/9000 series
* Experience with IP MPLS, traffic engineering, VPNs
* Knowledge of firewall technologies (Checkpoint, Fortinet)
* Exposure to automation tools, Junos OS, F5 BIG-IP, Cisco ISE, mobile backhaul, Cisco ASR 1001
* Preferred certifications: NRS2, CCNA, CCNP
