Do you have experience supporting people in the community? Are you looking for something new, interesting, and stimulating that offers the opportunity to use and enhance your experience? If so, the Dorset Integrated Non-Custodial Service is recruiting a full-time Assistant Psychologist to support people who have been given a Mental Health Treatment Requirement alongside a community sentence by the Magistrates or Crown Court.
Dorset Integrated Non-Custodial Service supports individuals suspected of committing a crime, going to Court, or being released from prison. We work with people who have mental health illnesses, learning disabilities, substance misuse problems, or other vulnerabilities. Our aim is to reduce re-offending by providing the right support and access to services.
As part of the team delivering Mental Health Treatment Requirements and working closely with the Team Lead and Psychologist, you will screen referrals and conduct assessments to determine if an MHTR would benefit the client. Once an MHTR is awarded by the Court, you will plan, deliver, and evaluate psycho-social interventions with clients while supporting their mental health and vulnerabilities. You will work with adults with complex mental health needs and other vulnerabilities.
You will communicate and provide complex, sensitive, and sometimes contentious information requiring persuasive, motivational, negotiating, and empathetic skills, often in situations where understanding barriers exist.
You will liaise with Court and Probation Services on the progress of the requirement, report breaches if necessary, and collaborate to help clients re-engage and complete their requirements successfully within the specified timeframe.
The Service operates across Dorset, and the successful applicant must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes. Your base and coverage area will be tailored to your location, with occasional coverage across the entire county.
