Area Planning Officer - The Role
The Council has many interesting applications for smaller major schemes for housing and commercial development as well as complex minor applications with a number of planning matters to consider.
Day-to-day, you'll manage your own caseload, dealing with a variety of applications, as well as pre-application enquiries to make an impact on the Borough. You'll ensure the character of the district is enhanced whilst having opportunities to deal with interesting and potentially significant developments and be supported through the APC route to gain experiences pursuant to chartership of the RTPI.
Area Planning Officer - Key Responsibilities
* To process a wide range of planning and related applications (subject to relevant experience), including undertaking site visits and to “fast track” householder and minor applications, preparing
* Delegated/Committee reports and ensuring correct procedures are followed efficiently and effectively
* To assist in the preparation of items for Planning Committee and present applications at committee
* To handle appeals associated with planning applications
* To advise applicants, agents and members of the public of Development Management matters generally and to negotiate as appropriate
Area Planning Officer - You
* Degree or equivalent in Town and Country Planning or related subject or suitable relevant experience within Planning
* Knowledge of planning process and regulations
* Able to read/interpret plans, technical and legal documents
* Able to conduct research and site assessments
* Ability to use Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database/GIS
* Able to analyse problems and generate practical solutions within a regulatory/policy framework
