Senior Modeller – Risk Validation
We’re looking for a Senior Modeller to join our Risk Validation team, responsible for confirming model fitness for use to meet Severn Trent Water design standards and project-specific requirements.
In this role, you’ll evaluate the wastewater network performance to identify new or validate existing risks and needs. You will develop notional solutions for projects that will be passed on to the capital delivery teams for further feasibility and design, delivering improvements to Severn Trent Water’s wastewater network in line with the company’s business plan. Typical risks requiring validation include sewer flooding, growth, water framework directive/CSO performance, and sewage pumping station performance.
You’ll lead project‑specific hydraulic modelling requirements, including model audits/fitness‑for‑use assessments, model build and verification, and risk validation of catchment drivers.
Key Accountabilities
* Conduct and/or manage hydraulic modelling activity across multiple projects to meet current and future demands, working closely with colleagues in Tactical Asset Planning and the Capital Design & Delivery teams as well as the wider business.
* Assess hydraulic model fitness for use; scoping, procuring and managing asset, flow and catchment surveys.
* Build, update and verify models, confirming model fitness for use to meet Severn Trent Water design standards.
* Undertake historical verification, liaising with customers and operational colleagues to understand asset and system performance.
* Undertake catchment appreciation walkovers and attend surveys where necessary.
* Identify root cause and mechanisms of network issues.
Qualifications
This role requires hydraulic network modelling experience. You should have experience in wastewater network modelling using InfoWorks ICM and associated GIS tools, or other relevant software packages. In addition, you should have experience in sewage treatment works inlet works and storm route design and operation, data management / analysis and risk identification, and scoping projects including asset survey planning.
You should be competent in hydraulic modelling software and have a comprehensive understanding of hydraulics and hydraulic model limitations.
Water quality modelling expertise is desirable but not essential.
To be successful you’ll need to be highly organised, meticulous, proactive, and able to communicate and present data clearly to various audiences.
