The opportunity: We are looking for a Paralegal to join our highly-regarded Intellectual Property team at Baker McKenzie, Belfast. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing support to the Firm's Intellectual Property practice. We handle high volumes of IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work in a deadline-driven environment. The role involves working on rapidly developing IP portfolios of household names with worldwide coverage, requiring a global mindset and the ability to learn different international requirements.
You will work with diverse teams across the globe, requiring confidence and effective coordination with technology teams, paralegals, lawyers, and partners. The successful candidate will provide key support to senior professionals, ensuring reliable and high-quality work.

Main responsibilities:
* Support the Firm's Global IP practice on various matters, including:
* Handling trade mark formalities: registration, prosecution, maintenance, renewal, and post-registration steps.
* Preparing client reports independently.
* Supporting global IP M&A activities: recording assignments, licenses, security interests, and changes at local registries.
* Drafting legal documents, liaising with local counsel, and coordinating document execution.
* Conducting IP asset due diligence using official registries and screening platforms.
* Supporting anti-counterfeiting programs: drafting guides, seizure notifications, filings, and liaising with infringers.
* Performing trade mark scans and high-quality search reports.
* Developing legal knowledge to support lawyers and clients effectively.
Services and process standards:
* Coordinate with global teams to follow proper procedures.
* Implement and maintain established processes.
* Meet service standards and manage workload and deadlines efficiently.
* Assist with docketing, deadline management, and related tasks.
* Proactively communicate workload issues.
* Adhere to all firm procedures and standards.
Essential criteria:
* Relevant undergraduate degree with 2.1 or above preferred.
* Legal background with trade mark/IP experience (preferred).
* Passion for Intellectual Property and willingness to develop expertise.
* Authorization to work in the UK.
Desirable criteria:
* CITMA qualification (advantageous).
