Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will support unaccompanied care leavers aged 18 and over who require ongoing assistance with their asylum application, housing, training and/or employment. You will hold case responsibility for these young adults, completing and reviewing Pathway Plans up to at least their 21st birthday. You will receive regular supervision from a manager or senior social worker and work collaboratively within a supportive team environment. You will also attend team meetings and be offered shadowing opportunities to further develop your knowledge of UASC and care leaver protocols. You will need A suitable practitioner-level qualification at Level 3 or equivalent experience within a relevant area of work. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to listening to young adults, including when discussing sensitive issues such as family loss, mental health, substance misuse or criminality. A strong understanding of safeguarding and the specific risks faced by UASC and adult care leavers. Good organisational skills and confidence using computer systems, maintaining paperwork, and producing accurate case recordings.
