Support Worker - Community Services (East Kent)
We have an exciting opportunity within Community Services for Support Workers in the East Kent area. You will support individuals with learning and physical disabilities to access and participate in their local community while developing essential life skills.
You will work from hubs and within community settings. Your role involves supporting individuals to reach their goals by planning outcome-focused sessions. Although based in Dover and Deal, you will be expected to travel across the locality as needed.
Training will be provided in manual handling to manage mobility needs and assist with personal care. You will support individuals using a person-centered approach, providing encouragement, support, and promoting social inclusion, rights, and choices. This is done under the supervision of a senior staff member, following County and Directorate procedures, legislation, and primary care standards to help individuals live more independent and fulfilled lives.
Relevant experience in care and support of individuals is essential, including voluntary, paid, or sector experience working with adults with learning disabilities, challenging behavior, autism, epilepsy, and other disabilities.
A full clean driving licence is required as you will drive and escort individuals on the service minibus.
You should hold a Diploma Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or be willing to undertake this training. An induction period, including the Care Certificate, medication workbook, and mandatory training, will be completed.
KCC offers benefits such as the Cycle 2 Work Scheme to support employee wellbeing and development.
