Role
:
As the Finance Manager, you will provide financial support to our client's research group. Your responsibilities will include preparing financial reports for funders and management, assisting with grant applications, and collaborating with the Executive Director and Global CFO on financial strategies. You will also be responsible for budgeting and forecasting, managing overhead costs, and ensuring compliance with local finance requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Develop and monitor short and long-term financial strategies
2. Prepare business plans, annual budgets, and reports on performance
3. Collaborate with the academic team to ensure financial sustainability
4. Liaise with external stakeholders such as banks, auditors, and lawyers
5. Provide regular financial reports and projections
6. Identify areas for cost savings and initiate efficiency programmes
7. Ensure compliance with tax and statutory requirements
Skills and Experience :
8. Relevant university degree or progressing towards professional accounting qualifications
9. Strong management accounting skills and experience with computerised accounting systems
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
11. Proactive and analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
13. Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues globally
14. Knowledge of the research grant ecosystem in the UK is desirable
15. Understanding of UK payroll and pensions would be a plus
