The Role
As a Diesel Gas Path Engineer, you will support the development of engine/aftertreatment physical base system engineering. You will ensure adherence to specified engineering methods, computer tools, and aids. You will also support vehicle, domain, and other indirect team members' understanding of the integrated propulsion functions.
Your responsibilities:
1. Work on robust requirements and ensure targets are delivered on-cycle to programmes.
2. Develop and update system artifacts (MBSE models, use case analysis, LAD, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP, requirements, standards) off-cycle and on-cycle as required.
3. Deliver new functions via statement of capability (SOC) and Feature statement of intent (FSOI) process.
4. Identify, report, and resolve system compatibility issues efficiently.
5. Chair technical reviews/forums and resolve complex cross-functional issues.
6. Develop methods and conduct technical studies into future technologies.
7. Analyze standard cycles like emission tests and identify and solve emission-related issues.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
* Relevant experience in developing electrified propulsion systems such as MHEV, PHEV.
* Strong background in Emissions/Gas Path/Aftertreatment.
* Experience with emissions or base engine engineering, including test bed work.
* Understanding of integration of core systems - Aftertreatment and Gas Path.
* Hands-on experience calibrating diesel engines for emissions on dynos.
* Proven experience with emission calibration and regulatory knowledge.
* Understanding of ICE engine gas path chemistry.
* Knowledge of calibration, sensor control, and regulation compliance.
* Experience with CAE tools for vehicle, propulsion, and subsystems, including Simulink modeling.
* Experience in defining test cases and DoE for HIL, PIL, VIL, and vehicle environments.
* Full UK or equivalent driving license.
* Experience with 8D problem resolution and data statistics using Six Sigma methods.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
* Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or automotive engineering.
* Previous experience in emission calibration.
* Knowledge of powertrain systems engineering and Gas Path.
* Understanding MHEV systems and calibration on different test cycles.
* CAE experience related to vehicle and propulsion subsystems, including Simulink.
* Specialized experience in Emissions, Aftertreatment, Gas Path, Base Engines, HV Systems, Torque, and Energy Arbitration.
