Overview
A well-established and highly respected boutique family law firm in Central Manchester is seeking an experienced Family Paralegal to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and ambitious paralegal who is looking for genuine long-term progression.
The firm is particularly interested in someone who would be open to and capable of taking on a leadership role in the future, with the view to supervising and managing a team of junior paralegals as the department expands.
With a flexible hybrid working arrangement (3 office days, 2 from home), this position offers both work–life balance and exposure to high-quality, complex family law work.
Key Responsibilities
Casework & Client Support
* Assist fee earners with a busy caseload of private family law matters including divorce, finances, child arrangements, separation agreements, and cohabitation disputes.
* Draft a wide range of legal documentation such as:
* Court applications
* Statements
* Bundles
* Position statements
* Client care letters
* Financial schedules
* Conduct legal research and prepare chronologies, disclosure reviews, and case summaries.
* Support the preparation of bundles for hearings, mediation, and conferences.
Client Contact & Communication
* Act as a first point of contact for clients, providing regular updates with sensitivity and professionalism.
* Liaise with counsel, experts, CAFCASS, social workers, and courts when required.
* Manage client expectations and ensure timely progression of matters.
Administrative & Organisational Duties
* Conduct AML checks, conflict checks, and onboarding documentation.
* Manage diaries, schedule hearings, book counsel, and track court deadlines.
* Maintain accurate file management in line with internal procedures and compliance standards.
* Draft correspondence to clients, courts, and third parties.
Progression & Leadership Development

Requirements
* Minimum 1 year of experience in family law (private family law preferred).
* Strong understanding of family law processes, court procedure, and case preparation.
* Excellent drafting skills with strong attention to detail.
* Confident communicator capable of supporting clients through sensitive matters.
* Highly organised with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
* Proactive, positive, and motivated, with a genuine desire to grow within the team.
* Legal qualifications such as LLB, LPC, or SQE are advantageous but not essential.
