Overview
As a Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter at Manchester Underwriting Management, a division of Pen Underwriting, you will play a pivotal role in fostering the sustainable growth of the Professional Indemnity portfolio. Your responsibilities will include driving profitable premium and conversion growth, contributing to the development and implementation of underwriting strategies, and steering the strategic direction of the business and its products. You will also be instrumental in building and nurturing relationships with new brokers, while maintaining and enhancing existing broker and insurer partnerships. How you'll make an impact Risk Assessment and Underwriting: Evaluate and underwrite risks in alignment with the underwriting philosophy, rules, and guidelines. Utilize rating tools, pricing methodologies, and documentation standards to maximize business growth and profitability. Business Development: Actively seek new business opportunities within existing relationships and the broader insurance market. Broker Engagement: Collaborate with brokers to service and renew the existing portfolio, ensuring alignment with underwriting strategies and business growth targets. Mentorship and Guidance: Provide expert underwriting guidance, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced underwriters, fostering product-specific knowledge and sales skills to ensure portfolio profitability and sustainability. Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong broker relationships across regions, contributing to the team's goal of building a sustainable professional indemnity business portfolio. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and enhance overall efficiency. Strategic Participation: Engage in regular strategy, sales, and underwriting meetings. Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and threats. Additional Duties: Perform other duties and projects as assigned. About You Preferred Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Certification. Experience in professional indemnity underwriting. Familiarity with the local insurance marketplace and a demonstrated ability to understand critical business issues and financial drivers. General knowledge of organizational and regulatory rules, policies, and procedures, effectively applied in daily activities. Basic skills in customer focus and positive broker interaction. Analytical thinking and financial acumen, with the ability to identify problems or opportunities, analyze information, and explore alternatives for sound decision-making.
