A Vacancy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. • A position has become available for a band 8B clinical physiologist to work in neurophysiology, based at the National Society for Epilepsy, Sir William Gowers Ward, in Buckinghamshire. This unit is part of University College Hospital, coming under the umbrella of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. It is based in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire. The EEG service at Chalfont undertake highly complex specialist diagnostic tests for adults in an outpatient and inpatient setting. The physiologist will be expected to perform video-EEG telemetry, home video-telemetry, ambulatory EEG, prolonged EEG with video & routine EEGs. There are 6 video-EEG telemetry bed, based in dedicated rooms, on a 22 bed ward. There is ample opportunity to take part in research projects happening on site, and to attend relevant conferences and study days. • Current working hours are 8:30 – 4:30 Monday – Friday, these may change over time. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 8B Clinical Physiologist to lead a team of 6 physiologists (total team WTE 7) in the EEG department at the Chalfont Centre, Buckinghamshire, SL9 0RJ, part of UCLH. As lead clinical physiologist you will be responsible for providing, and coordinating the EEG service. Providing a high-quality video-EEG telemetry service, prolonged video/EEG, ambulatory EEG studies, home video-EEG studies, and routine EEGs for service users. Effectively manage the EEG team, including absences, workload etc, so that the appropriate skill mix is present for the tests booked. Lead the team to inspire, support, and ensure excellence in all aspects of their work. Encourage relevant and challenging continual professional development, and allow all fair access to this. Ensure that all tests are performed to the highest quality, recognising that some more junior or inexperienced members of the team will need help to achieve this. Undertake interpretation of results, and complete accurate factual reports. If necessary, communicating relevant findings of both your, and your teams, studies directly with the consultant neurophysiologist. Encourage participation in, and participate in quality assurance and audit, both within the department, and on a regional basis. Ensure compliance with both professional guidelines, and the UCLH governance framework.
