Role Overview The Copyright Assistant supports the administration, registration, and protection of the company’s musical works catalogue. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate data management across collection societies, tracking usage, and assisting with royalty processes. Key Responsibilities Copyright Administration Register new works with collection societies (e.g. PRS, MCPS, international societies) Maintain and update copyright databases Ensure accuracy of writer splits, publisher shares, and ownership data Process amendments, assignments, and catalogue acquisitions Data Management Input and reconcile metadata across internal systems and external platforms Investigate and resolve conflicts (e.g. split disputes, unmatched works) Maintain ISWC, IPI/CAE, and work registration records Society & Third-Party Liaison Communicate with collection societies regarding registrations and claims Handle queries from sub-publishers and partners Monitor claims and conflicts via society portals General Support Provide administrative support to the copyright team Assist with catalogue audits and data clean-up projects Ad hoc duties as required by line manager or the company Skills & Experience Essential Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organisational and administrative skills Proficiency in Excel (e.g. lookups, data handling) Understanding of music publishing basics (copyright, splits, societies) Ability to manage large datasets Desirable Experience in music publishing or rights administration Familiarity with copyright systems Knowledge of international collection societies Understanding of royalty processes Personal Attributes Methodical and process-driven Strong problem-solving ability Good communication skills Able to work independently and as part of a team Interest in music and the rights ecosystem Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Accuracy of registrations and data entry Timeliness of work registration Reduction in unmatched works and conflicts Responsiveness to internal and external queries Bucks Music Group is an equal opportunities employer; we believe in fair treatment of all our employees and commit to promoting diversity in our employment practices.
