Job Title: BTL Underwriter Location: London Hybrid 3 days a week in the office Salary: Up to £50,000 Working Hours: Monday - Friday 9 am - 5.30 pm Benefits: 25 Days Holiday Pension scheme Private healthcare Discretionary Bonus Other flexible benefitsAbout the role of the BTL Underwriter: In this role, you will report to the Head of Buy to Let. This role is responsible for underwriting and approving new Buy to Let lending proposals in line with the Company's Lending Policy, ensuring decisions are made efficiently and within agreed-upon timescales. You will manage a varied pipeline of cases in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, accurately assessing application risk to ensure each loan is appropriate, commercially sound and fit for purpose. The role also involves clearly articulating lending decisions and, where cases fall outside mandate or internal policy, presenting well-reasoned recommendations to the Credit Committee. Responsibilities required for the role of the BTL Underwriter: Ensure all new lending proposals are underwritten in accordance with the Company's Lending Policy, with any exceptions clearly documented and approved by the appropriate senior signatories Provide clear, concise lending recommendations to senior signatories for proposals requiring exceptions or falling outside mandate parameters Prepare and present Credit Papers to the Credit Committee for high-value transactions Review, assess and appraise both short- and long-form valuation reports Liaise with intermediaries on new enquiries and proposals, clearly communicating underwriting requirements and/or reasons for decline Work closely with Pipeline and Completions Managers to ensure underwriting requirements and special conditions are fully understood and appropriately appliedExperience required for the role of the BTL Underwriter: 1 year BTL underwriting experience with £350k sole signatory authority Experience presenting cases to senior credit signatories Strong knowledge of complex assets (HMOs, MUFBs, PD office-to-resi) Proven ability to underwrite beyond own mandate Confident, pragmatic decision-maker with strong analytical and numerical skills Experience with broker-introduced business and good intermediary market knowledge Exposure to lending to companies, foreign nationals, trusts and offshore entities highly desirableFor more information regarding the role of BTL Underwriter, please contact us Stellar Select is acting as an employment agency and is a corporate member of the REC Due to a high volume of applications, we will only contact you if your application has been successful.
