Job information

The University of Bedfordshire is an ambitious, dynamic institution with over 24,000 students, with a mission to transform lives and communities for the better. Technology has an important role to play, and the University ICT department is a great place to work and be part of a friendly, focused, forward-looking team in an environment where the technical professional is valued and can flourish.

The Junior Cyber Security Analyst will serve as the University's first point of contact for cyber incident management, providing hands-on technical support for identifying, triaging, and resolving security threats. This role is primarily operational and delivery-focused, ensuring prompt and accurate response to incidents, maintaining proactive threat detection practices, and supporting vulnerability and penetration testing across the institution's digital estate.

We're looking for a motivated and technically proficient individual to join as a Junior Cyber Security Analyst. In this hands-on role, you'll work under the guidance of the Head of Cyber Security and alongside the Cyber Security Analyst to deliver core security operations. You'll be responsible for scanning, testing, and monitoring the University's digital estate, maintaining key security toolsets, and developing automation to boost efficiency and response times. From analysing logs and investigating phishing and malware alerts, you will get exposure to conducting authorised penetration testing and generating actionable insights, your work will directly enhance our cyber resilience.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-career professional eager to build specialist skills in a supportive and forward-thinking environment. You'll contribute to security awareness initiatives, assist with evidence gathering, and document technical activities while gaining exposure to advanced threat detection, automation, and security engineering.

This position requires an individual who is a strong team player with the ability to complete tickets quickly within published service levels (SLA). You must have the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities effectively in a large HE environment.

We kindly request that all applicants refrain from canvassing during the shortlisting process.
