Job Summary

The Vegetation Management (VM) Project Manager (PM) will have direct oversight of the NYSEG/RGE Electric Distribution system maintenance, reclamation, and danger tree programs. General activities will include coordinating multiple complex activities, applying specific skills and knowledge to meet project requirements, solving complex project management problems to ensure timely completion of the defined annual work plan. This role will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on supplier performance, ensuring proper documentation of Quality Audits, and Safety Observations conducted by the Divisional Arborists. Responsible for managing internal/external resource requirements, priorities, and project execution strategy.

In this role, you will facilitate the work of external contractors and other internal business areas, holding them accountable for performance and results. Additionally, you will provide technical advice to senior management as needed. The Project Manager will ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversees the execution and management of multiple projects performed by Contract Line Clearance Tree Crews.
* Conducts weekly meetings with Divisional Arborists to ensure proper oversite of VM Programs.
* Provides timely feedback to the VM Manager and Contractor Leadership on performance.
* Facilitates timely resolution of problems identified in contractor performance. Properly documents all performance issues or successes and shares with internal stake holders.
* Ensures a safe work environment through process and procedure adherence and safety metrics.
* Meets with and manages escalated customer complaints and reports resolution to the VM Manager.
* Communicates with Divisional Leadership, including but not limited to, Manager of Regional Operations (MRO), Line Supervisors, field planning Managers and Supervisors, to ensure understanding of the Division VM Workplan, and resource availability for local projects.
* Assists with storm or emergency work, acting as back to the Divisional Arborists as Directed by VM Area Command. (May require travel to the Divisions)

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in forestry, or related field and 5+ years Utility Line Clearance VM experience. Or 7+ years Utility Line Clearance VM experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
* ISA Certified Arborist Certification.
* Ability to mobilize team members to deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Strong understanding of ANSI Z133 and A300 and FAC-003.
* Skilled in utilizing MS Office tools for data analysis, budgeting, planning, and optimizing schedules and presentations.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Results-oriented with a focus on achieving targets.
* Understanding and implementation of quality assurance processes within project structures.
* Knowledge of the main configuration and general arrangements of networks (substations, overhead lines, and cable) infrastructures.
* Proven ability to lead teams and work effectively in a team environment.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make strategic decisions under pressure.
* High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships with stakeholders, clients, and team members

Preferred Qualifications

* ISA Utility Arborist Certification
* Must have pleasant manner; able to work collaboratively in a team environment
* Must have customer service oriented “can do” approach to work
* Must have superior organizational skills and accuracy
* Excellent problem solving and people skills also required
