Support Manager

The Support Manager is accountable for all aspects of the day-to-day management and delivery of the service over a 24-hour period at 2 supported living houses. They are fully responsible for ensuring that all services are delivered according to supported living principles and demonstrate a strong commitment and passion to support people to live their lives on their terms.

The support manager is responsible for ensuring each member of staff in their team is capable of fulfilling their role and receives regular supervision, an appropriate induction and training and receives an annual Appraisal and Personal Development Plan (and that these are updated and reviewed at the agreed intervals). The Support Manager must ensure that these activities are properly recorded on the prescribed documentation or electronic system.

You should have extensive experience of working with people learning disability in a supported living service. Level 4 or 5 diploma in health or social care is essential.


Main duties of the job

The opportunity has arisen for a manager to lead and manage teams of staff who support people with learning disabilities to live in their own shared homes.You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of two supported living service, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care. You will inspire and develop a dedicated team to work closely with people using the service to ensure they are involved as equal partners in decisions affecting their lives and how their house is run. You will work closely with families and professionals, and make sure the service meets regulatory standards and the aspirations of the people we support.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment and passion to support people to live their lives on their terms. Having working knowledge of facilitating person centred plans and person-centred reviews, using person centred thinking tools to support people to make choices and decisions. Ensuring their human rights are upheld.As a support manager you would be responsible and accountable for the running of two houses, supporting adults with a learning disability and complex health, Physical or behavioural issues.You should be able to demonstrate experience of compassionate leadership, managing performance issues, financial management and the development of high performing teams within a sound value base, whilst ensuring the rights of the people we support are fully respected and that people are in control of their own lives.

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. Person Specification


Qualifications

* Accredited level 4 or 5 (or working towards) diploma in health and social care (or equivalent)


Skills

* Strong compassionate leadership skills


Knowledge

* Extensive demonstrable knowledge of working in Supported Living with people with learning disabilities at deputy level
* Knowledge of supporting people with complex health and/or using behaviour to communicate, including the importance of postural management and PBS and how to implement it.
