SEN Teacher Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire Contract: Full-time (Long-term / Supply) Start Date: As soon as possible / January 2026 or sooner Salary: MPS/UPS About the Role GSL Education are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teacher to work in a specialist provision in Scarborough that supports pupils with SEMH, ASC, and a range of additional learning needs. The role involves planning and delivering personalised, engaging lessons for small classes, supporting emotional development, and helping students overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with a dedicated team to ensure each pupil is supported academically, socially, and emotionally. About the School This specialist provision caters for children and young people aged 5–16 who require a tailored approach to education due to social, emotional, and mental health needs, communication difficulties, and complex learning profiles. Key Responsibilities as an SEN Teacher: Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons to meet individual needs. Use restorative, trauma-informed approaches to behaviour. Support pupils with SEMH needs, ensuring emotional regulation and wellbeing. Work collaboratively with support staff, SEN teams, and external agencies. Build positive, trusting relationships with young people. Track progress and contribute to personalised learning plans. Ideal SEN Teacher Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Experience in SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision (strongly preferred). Calm, patient, and resilient with a nurturing approach. Skilled in adapting lessons to different ability levels. Confident with behaviour management and therapeutic approaches. Passionate about helping young people re-engage in education.
