G Crook & Sons Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced Commercial HGV Fitter to join our growing workshop team due to recent expansion.
We operate a large and diverse fleet including Volvo and Scania tippers, low loaders, road sweepers, and muck-away grab lorries, as well as providing maintenance and repair services to a range of external commercial clients.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy and light commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with current legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out repairs in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current legislation
* Perform routine vehicle maintenance to VOSA standards
* Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment
* Prepare and present vehicles and trailers for annual MOT inspections
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with health & safety requirements
* Complete all paperwork accurately and to a high standard
* Use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
* Communicate effectively with Transport and Workshop Managers
About You
* Proven experience working on heavy commercial vehicles (HGVs) and light commercial vehicles
* Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
* Strong understanding of health & safety practices
* Experience using diagnostic tools
Desirable (but not essential):
* HGV licence
* City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
