Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Horticultural Specialist to join our team and contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of our large plants. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for gardening and horticulture, with practical experience in plant maintenance. The successful applicant will be responsible for executing a range of horticultural tasks, ensuring high standards of plant health and landscape aesthetics. Duties Utilise hand tools and power tools to carry out planting, pruning, weeding, and soil preparation Implement irrigation systems and maintain their proper functioning to ensure optimal plant growth Monitor plant health and identify pests or diseases, applying appropriate treatments as needed Regularly monitor environmental conditions in the nursery and make adjustments as needed to optimize plant health. Maintain detailed records of all pest and disease management activities, including treatments applied, results, and any corrective actions taken. Work closely with the managers to develop and refine quality control protocols, ensuring all plants meet or exceed customer expectations. Provide training and guidance to other nursery staff on proper plant care, identification of pests and diseases, and best practices for maintaining plant health. Stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends, research, and regulations related to nursery plant care and pest/disease management. Required Skills, qualifications: Certification in horticulture, plant science, or a related field Demonstrated expertise in plant health, pest identification, and disease management Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions PA1 & PA6 Sprayer Certificate (training can be provided) Forklift Certificate would be desirable (training can be provided) Be willing to assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed
