Portfolio Payroll is proud to partner with a well‑established accountancy practice in Sheffield to recruit a Senior Payroll Specialist on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the accurate and timely processing of multiple client payrolls on a weekly, fortnightly, and monthly basis.
* Manage payroll queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
* Arrange BACs payments for clients.
* Communicate and liaise with HM Revenue & Customs.
* Set up new payroll clients.
* Set up pension schemes, handle PAYE scheme closures and analyse payroll.
* Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including RTI submissions and auto‑enrolment.
* Process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP and SPP.
* Prepare payroll journals and liaise with clients' accountants as necessary.
* Assist with year‑end procedures including P60s and P11Ds.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of payroll legislation and industry changes.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in client payroll (bureau/practice).
* Proficient using Brightpay.
* Confident communicator.
* Good eye for detail, with precision in work.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
* Capable of working independently and collaboratively.
