Job Description
As a Lead Commissioning Manager, you are responsible for the successful implementation of commissioning processes and systems within the construction project, from planning, witnessing management and execution to quality assurance and client satisfaction. Your advanced technical expertise, and strategic vision are essential for delivering high-quality outcomes that meet project objectives and exceed client expectations.
You will lead on strategic and tactical building services commissioning management support to the project team for the engineering process of a project from conception to completion primarily on Major Projects. Our focus is on teamwork; our philosophy is to be part of the solution, not the problem. We focus on quality in all aspects of commissioning management – planning, programming, reporting, collaborative working, witnessing, and handing over to the FM teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Planning: responsible for developing a comprehensive strategic commissioning playbook and schedules for commissioning activities, tailored to each project’s unique specifications, timelines, and objectives. Work closely with project stakeholders to understand requirements and develop and manage a roadmap for commissioning execution.
* Team Leadership and Management: lead and manage the commissioning activities of the project. Provide guidance, mentorship, and coordinate all stakeholders to ensure they perform their duties effectively and efficiently. Drive stakeholders, assign tasks, monitor progress, and manage resolution of any issues during the commissioning process.
* Resource Allocation: ensure that all stakeholders allocate resources such as personnel, equipment, and materials to various commissioning activities based on project needs and priorities.
* Quality Assurance: implement robust quality assurance processes to ensure that all commissioning activities and gateways meet client expectations, contractual obligations, specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements. Track, oversee, and witness the execution of tests, inspections, and verifications to verify functionality and performance of systems and equipment.
* Risk Management: identify and track potential risks and challenges that may impact the commissioning process and develop mitigation strategies.
* Health & Safety Compliance: follow Sygna's Health & Safety systems and local project requirements. Maintain relevant health and safety records to meet regulatory standards and company policies.
* Client Communication: interact with clients during the project lifecycle, providing updates on project progress, planned vs achieved, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction.
* Technical Expertise: leverage your technical expertise and knowledge of commissioning methodologies and engineering to troubleshoot complex issues, resolve conflicts, and optimise system performance. Collaborate with contractors, engineers, designers, and stakeholders to implement solutions that enhance functionality and efficiency.
* Documentation and Reporting: track all commissioning activities, develop test procedures, generate reports, and maintain compliance records to provide a clear audit trail.
* Sheet & SharePoint Management: ensure SharePoint folders and documentation are utilized and managed per division standards, including naming conventions and template use.
* Commissioning Meetings: provide technical insight during meetings, lead meetings and manage other Sygna employees’ input.
* Design Review Support: engage on-site to address design issues and input into commissioning design reviews.
* Documentation Review: review and validate technical documentation for accuracy and project alignment, including project-specific commissionability review.
* Commissioning Scripts: develop scripts to meet project requirements.
* Progress Tracking: update and maintain progress on delivery tracker, ensuring timely reporting and continuity.
* Commissioning Plan & Programme: create and deliver commissioning plan and programme.
* PowerBI Tracking: maintain and report against commissioning tracker using PowerBI.
* Method Statement Review: review and approve commissioning method statements prior to commissioning phase.
* QA/QC Documentation: review and assist contractors/sub-contractors in developing QA/QC documentation and providing technical input to change control processes.
* Witnessing Activities: plan for witnessing activities using Look Ahead documents and meetings, witness MEPH system, monitor and report outcomes, execute and manage level 4 & 5 testing.
* Client Training: manage and coordinate client training on commissioned systems.
* O&Ms Review: review and comment on O&Ms regarding commissioning information.
* Closeout Report: create and issue final commissioning closeout report.
* Sustainability Accreditation: manage delivery of commissioning elements for BREEAM, WELL, LEED, NABORS.
* Project Deliverables: understand and execute full project deliverables and communicate to team.
* Site Team Coordination: coordinate relevant site team members.
* Client Interaction: attend client meetings where applicable.
* Change Communication: ensure project changes captured and communicated to Principal Commissioning Manager and Divisional Director.
* Client Feedback: ensure high standard of client feedback.
* RFP Technical Review: input into technical review of RFP documents.
* Visiting Employee Management: manage visiting Sygna employees’ input per division protocols.
* Junior Development: assist in development of junior employees.
