About the role: As Head of Portfolio Management, you will be a senior leader within bp’s Trading & Shipping Credit team, responsible for setting the strategy and vision for the global Portfolio Management team. You will directly manage 2 team members and oversee 4 indirect reports, including the Kuala Lumpur office. In addition to your leadership responsibilities, you will also take on the responsibility of managing one of the business segment portfolios including post-transaction (“Day 2”), ensuring adherence to risk appetite, monitoring risk trends, and collaborating with Credit Advisory and senior partners. What you will deliver: Shape and execute the vision for a globally consistent Portfolio Management team Lead 2 direct reports across London and Houston and provide guidance to the Kuala Lumpur team Oversee Day 2 management of a specific business aligned Credit Portfolio, monitoring qualitative and quantitative risk triggers Ensure exposures and controls remain within Credit Risk appetite, addressing material excesses and overdue Collaborate with Credit Advisory to operationalize and monitor complex collateral structures. Analyse macroeconomic trends with the Global Credit Research Team, including Stress Test scenarios, and recommend/action risk appetite adjustments. Oversee collateral management controls ensuring we ae tracking any expiring security/facilities and working with our margining teams to resolve disputes. Understand Commercial Strategy and how this will impact Credit Risk in the portfolio through regular discussions with senior bench leads. Review and present Portfolio Level reviews to the Credit LT and Commercial Stakeholders on specific parts of the book to discuss and agree risk appetite. Act as the key interface to senior management on portfolio level risk including as part of the regular governance forums to ensure awareness and alignment. Involvement in broader Credit projects in support of the Head of Credit team strategy. What you will need to be successful: Degree educated (Business, Economics, Accounting, other quantitative degrees) or demonstrating equivalent practical experience Extensive Credit Risk experience, ideally with large or complex portfolios in commodities (physical and financial) Proven ability to manage multiple credits in a dynamic environment, identifying triggers and responding to market changes Strong credit analysis skills, including financial statement assessment and business model evaluation Experience leading teams and influencing cross-functional partners Demonstrate curious mind-set for the macro environment and able to link external risk to the impact on the Portfolio Action orientated with proven examples of delivering solutions and actions to better position risk in the book.
