Senior Commercial Manager – Defence Consultancy
Up to £90,000 + Bonus
This will be a department lead position. Flexible location, base contractually from your closest office. Monthly customer visits travel required across the UK.
Our client, an international consultancy business, currently has an opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager within a fast‑growing commercial department. This is a unique opportunity, a chance to be truly strategic and shape the future of the organisation.
The company has a long and successful history of delivering large projects to various private and public sectors clients and is on a journey to change the way they do business—looking for ambitious individuals, this role will sit purely across the defence space.
The role holder will lead the commercial negotiation of new business with both new and existing clients and shape the strategic direction of the function.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify the risks, liabilities, and commitments of contractual agreements; ensure these are clearly understood and that the business fully appreciates any potential impact.
* Review, draft, update and maintain contract documents.
* Monitor and report performance and compliance against contractual obligations including commercial performance, financial management and contract management.
* Work with the contract delivery teams to ensure the management of the change‑request process and change implementation is carried out in line with the contracts.
* Report on progress of change requests and projects.
* Review contract performance, assessing commercial risks and ensuring appropriate steps are taken to manage the risk.
* Prevent and resolve contractual disputes.
* Assure adherence to Group Commercial Policy.
* Support the client engagement teams in all commercial aspects post‑contract signature to achieve the orders, profit and cash budget and overall management of the client relationship.
* Support the delivery streams responsible for project delivery and provide clear direction while working with the client engagement team.
Candidate Profile
* Experience of working in the defence or aerospace industry would be advantageous.
* Growth mindset—looking to maximise value and minimise risk.
* Experience working closely with finance, operations and technical specialists.
* Good knowledge of both legal t&c's and financials.
