Network analyst

Glasgow (Glasgow City)
Network analyst
Posted: 6 June
Offer description

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland. Weâre looking for a proactive and analytical Network Analyst to join the team at our Intelligent Control Centre in Stepps. This role is all about using data and engineering know-how to support the real-time performance of our water and wastewater networks, while keeping an eye on the long-term picture too.  Youâll play a key role in making sure our networks are operating safely, efficiently and sustainablyâspotting issues before they become problems, supporting our field teams during live events, and working with planners and engineers to build more resilient systems for the future.  Right now, the role is office-hours based. In future, we may introduce shift working to support changing operational needsâso weâre looking for someone with flexibility and a team-first mindset.  What youâll do   Day to day, youâll be monitoring performance data across our water and wastewater networks, looking for anomalies like bursts, blockages or supply interruptions. Youâll dig into the detail to understand whatâs going on, using systems like telemetry, SCADA and GIS to spot patterns and support operational decisions.  When incidents happen, youâll provide fast, clear guidance to colleagues in the fieldâhelping them respond quickly and effectively. Youâll also support with escalations, contributing valuable insight during time-critical events.  Youâll create reports and dashboards that help drive improvements, and collaborate with modellers, engineers and planners to shape our long-term approach. Youâll also take part in post-incident reviews and continuous improvement work, sharing your knowledge and helping us learn from every event.  What youâll need   Youâll have a good understanding of water and/or wastewater networks. Whether your background is in the field, in a control room or in a more analytical role, what matters most is your ability to interpret operational data and make sound decisions under pressure.  Youâll need confident analytical skills and the ability to get to the root of complex problems. Experience with systems like telemetry, SCADA or GIS will definitely help, but weâre just as interested in your ability to think critically and stay calm under pressure.  Youâll also need to be a clear communicator, able to work across different teams and functions, and keen to deliver great outcomes for our customers and the environment.  An HNC, HND or equivalent experience in engineering, science or operations would be idealâbut if youâve got relevant skills and a strong appetite to learn, weâd love to hear from you. Looking out for you ⯠  While the work we do is important, we know itâs not the only thing that matters. Thatâs why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.⯠  Youâll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.⯠ ⯠ When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.â¯â¯   For your future, thereâs our pension (the âknow-what-youâll-get-when-you-retireâ kind), as well as life assurance.â¯â¯   As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash â handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.⯠  The not-so-small print ⯠  This role will be a Grade 6. If youâre new to Scottish Water, youâll join us on a starting salary of £33,560. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £44,140.   If youâre interested in this role â or know someone else who might be - weâll be accepting applications until midnight on Tuesday 17th June 2025.  Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. Screening is conducted on our behalf by a third party, and must be completed before your start date. Donât worry - weâll only start these checks once youâve accepted an offer. ⯠ A few final things worth knowing⦠ Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If youâre interested in this job, but donât tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So donât rule yourself out!  Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. Weâre very used to making adjustments, so please donât be afraid to ask.  As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, itâs important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you donât already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.  Finally (finally!), candidates who havenât submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You wonât need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted. Weâre here to help. Ask us anything at SWRecruitment@ScottishWater.co.uk Â
