Overview

1wte B4 MHST Support Worker

Post based in Dudley but may require Black Country working at times dependent on service need.

We have an exciting opportunity for a support worker to join our MHST in the Black Country. This is a new post which will support the qualified practitioners within the team with whole school approach including group activities, delivered within schools and colleges throughout the Black Country to those young people demonstrating need for support with their emotional health and wellbeing.


Job responsibilities

The MHST Support Worker role will:

* Work closely alongside a team of mental health professionals delivering a wide range of evidence informed interventions
* Develop and practice evidence-based skills under supervision to work with children, young people and families.
* Develop and practice evidence-based skills to carry out whole school approach activities including groups.
* Carry out observations of young people within various settings which may lead to a diagnosis.
* Support co-production as well as the use of social media within the service.

The Education Mental Health Practitioner is required to:

* Demonstrate and evidence they have some knowledge of the education system
* Have experience of working with children and young people, their families and others.
* Have experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
* Have experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties

Qualifications and experience

Person Specification

Essentials

* NVQ Level 3 in a child related field such as childcare, youth work etc or equivalent experience
* A minimum of two years' experience of working with children and young people and their families in a mental health related setting
* Ability to demonstrate a general understanding of the education system
* Access to own transport. Able to move between education settings and Trust sites across the Black Country within reasonable time, not relying on public transport.
* Must have presenter skills and be able to talk widely to large groups of people.

Desirable

* Psychology or other health/social care/youth related undergraduate degree.
* Has an understanding of the Mental Health Support Team In Schools working model
