We are seeking two General Adult Psychiatrists to work within our Acute Mental Health Directorate in Doncaster. Our unit consists of two wards each with 20 beds and a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), all of which have recently undergone substantial refurbishment, ensuring modern and spacious facilities.
You would be working alongside two other Consultant Psychiatrists and supported by a Lead Medic for the directorate.
Each ward operates under the PIPA model and has a full MDT including junior doctor support. The unit is overseen by a service manager and a matron.
Patients are admitted either via the Crisis Resolution Team (which acts as the gatekeeper for inpatient beds) or directly following a detention under the Mental Health Act.
The sessions of Programmed Activity for this post include 25% SPA time enabling the post holders to pursue CPD, management, teaching or research interests. Flexible or part-time working is an option with the sessions being allocated on a pro-rata basis.
The Trust has generous study leave provision of 10 days and £1750 per Consultant Psychiatrist per annum in addition to a weekly educational programme, internal CPD, RCPsych Peer Groups and Trust training; this is allocated in full to all Consultant regardless of whether or not they are full-time employees. The on-call rota is variable but currently 1:21 and does not include an obligation to engage in S12 work; for parttime appointees this will also be pro rata.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register (Adult Psychiatry) or a trainee within 6 months of completing their CCT. Section 12 (2) approval and Approved Clinician status are essential to the role.
