Role: Senior Group Legal Counsel – IT/Technology Reports to: Group Legal Director – IT/Technology & Transformation Contract: Permanent The Opportunity An exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated lawyer to join a global in-house legal team. This role suits a common-law qualified IT/technology and commercial lawyer who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced international business environment. You’ll work closely with central IT, IT Procurement, and Cyber Security teams, advising on a wide range of technology and data-related matters. This includes negotiating complex IT contracts, advising on SaaS, licensing, AI innovation, and ensuring data protection compliance. There is potential for the role to expand beyond IT into broader commercial legal areas within the global legal function. Legal Team Structure The global legal function includes over 60 legal professionals worldwide. The central legal team, under the leadership of the Group General Counsel, is currently transforming to increase efficiency, implement legal tech, and elevate its strategic role. Key Responsibilities Provide clear, commercially sound legal advice on IT/technology, data protection, and commercial issues. Draft and negotiate contracts, including SaaS, software licensing, integration, AI, and services agreements. Lead legal workstreams for large-scale technology projects. Manage risk, escalate key issues, and offer pragmatic solutions. Support data protection compliance and negotiate DPAs. Liaise with external counsel as needed. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across technology and procurement functions. Share best practices and contribute to legal team development initiatives. Your Profile Common-law qualified lawyer with solid experience in IT/technology, data protection, and commercial law. 6 PQE. Confident negotiator with strong drafting skills. Collaborative, pragmatic, and solution-oriented. Comfortable working independently and in a global team. Interest in innovation, AI, and legal operations.
