Exciting Midwifery Training Opportunity at East Kent Hospital University Foundation Trust
We are offering a unique opportunity within our Maternity Services at East Kent Hospital University Foundation Trust through our shortened midwifery programme. This programme provides registered nurses with the training necessary to become registered midwives.
This innovative, flexible, work-based course is designed for Qualified Adult Nurses aspiring to become Midwives. It aims to enhance your skills and knowledge, enabling you to care confidently for parents and their babies.
Our maternity units are located in Ashford and Margate, Kent, both easily accessible via high-speed rail links to London and proximity to Europe. We serve a diverse population with both high-risk and low-risk pregnancies, supported by a professional and compassionate team of midwives and obstetricians.
East Kent midwives pride themselves on caring for their women. Working with us allows you to practice in an environment that attracts and retains outstanding staff. Our Clinical Skills Facilitators will support you in providing high-quality care across assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care programs.
Successful applicants will undertake a shortened midwifery course with Kingston University, with tuition fees paid, while working as a Band 5 Midwife at EKHUFT. Over 24 months, you will rotate through high-risk labour wards, antenatal, and postnatal wards, achieving your core competencies.
As one of the largest hospital trusts in England, we operate five hospitals and community clinics serving approximately 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people', guided by values that ensure everyone feels cared for, safe, respected, and confident in our impact. Our 'We care' initiative empowers frontline staff to lead improvements daily, and we seek compassionate individuals to join us in our ongoing journey of improvement.
Applications should be written by the applicants. The use of AI in applications may lead to rejection, as the application is a vital part of the assessment process. Support for application writing is available for those with declared disabilities.
