Location: The ideal location for this position is St. Louis Park, MN, or in a city of one of our sites/offices. We will also consider remote candidates based in Washington, DC.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
The Global Trade Compliance Director will lead the trade compliance program and global trade initiatives, ensuring adherence to international trade laws and regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing import/export compliance, mitigating regulatory risks, and fostering a high-performance, innovative culture. The role reports to the Vice President, Compliance.
Responsibilities:
* Provide legal counsel and support for trade compliance strategies and monitoring procedures.
* Develop communication and training plans to align with trade compliance governance.
* Collaborate with operational leadership to adapt to regulatory changes.
* Assess the impact of global import/export laws on nVent's business.
* Develop and improve global trade compliance programs and procedures.
* Implement trade compliance training and identify high-risk practices.
* Enhance visibility and understanding of trade compliance across the organization.
* Conduct investigations of compliance issues and respond to government inquiries.
* Monitor regulatory environment and strategize responses to legal changes.
* Manage and mentor a team of global compliance professionals.
YOU HAVE:
* Law degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership; law firm and in-house experience preferred.
* 10+ years in international trade, with extensive knowledge of import/export regulations.
* 6+ years leading teams within a global organization.
* Experience reviewing transactions, identifying red flags, and using screening tools.
* Expertise in global trade laws, including CBP, BIS, OFAC, DDTC, USTR.
* Ability to serve as a subject matter expert for mergers and acquisitions due diligence.
* Strong understanding of commercial practices including finance, sales, and marketing.
* Experience with a global manufacturing company preferred.
* Government relations experience with trade agencies highly desirable.
* Experience with Mexican maquiladora operations preferred.
Pay Transparency:
nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Compensation ranges from $175,000 to $250,000, depending on experience and other factors. Additional incentives may be available.
