Underwriting Policy Validation Senior Technician
Responsibilities:
* Take the lead in complex policy validation work, ensuring high standards in investigations and helping protect the business against fraud and financial risk.
* Play a central role in shaping anti-fraud practices, supporting Policy Validation Officers with technical expertise while driving continuous improvements to processes and compliance.
* Benefit from a hybrid working environment with 60% homeworking and 40% working from our York office with a requirement to occasionally visit our Glasgow and Bristol offices.
About the role
This is a key role supporting the Policy Validation Team across our Regional Service Centres, as well as, setting and maintaining technical standards. Acting as a recognised subject expert, you'll combine strong technical knowledge with excellent interpersonal skills to deliver outstanding customer service and uphold regulatory requirements.
You'll take responsibility for managing complex, high-value and sensitive cases, ensuring fair outcomes for members. Alongside this, you'll train, coach and mentor team members, providing technical support to Policy Validation Officers to build capability and confidence across the function.
The role also involves monitoring and auditing technical activity, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and KPIs. You'll work closely with colleagues across Underwriting, Claims, and wider business areas to align objectives, improve processes and deliver service excellence.
Requirements:
* Broad experience of policy validation, with knowledge of fraud risks and (ideally) fraud systems.
* Strong customer focus and resilience, acting as a trusted escalation point and handling complex cases fairly and effectively.
* Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to mentor colleagues and influence internal partners.
* Confidence in decision making and takes ownership of outcomes, comfortable making informed choices even under pressure.
