Job Title: Director of Communications & Marketing (Financial Services)

Salary: £120,000 - £150,000 depending on experience
Purpose of the Role
The Director of Communications & Marketing is a leadership role with responsibility for corporate communications, crisis and reactive communications, brand, marketing and public affairs within a high-profile organisation.
The post-holder will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of the organisation's communications and marketing strategy whilst ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and regulatory requirement
You will be setting the vision for how the organisation tells its story and positions its brand in a competitive market, and builds trusted relationships with stakeholders including customers, policymakers, regulators, media, and the public.
The role is accountable for reputation, and consistent messaging across all channels, ensuring the organisation's profile and impact are enhanced.
The successful applicant will take responsibility for corporate comms and work with an existing marketing team, as well as being responsible for the management of external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Define and deliver an integrated global strategy for communications, marketing, and external affairs aligned to the organisation's priorities.
Lead media engagement, including proactive campaigns, executive visibility, and issue management.
Ensure consistent and clear messaging across all communication channels in line with the overall strategy, including press releases, social media, and the organisation's website.
Act as brand steward — owning the narrative, architecture, and expression across internal and external channels.
Working in a highly regulated market for a listed company you will produce high quality content including in relation to annual reports.
Provide strategic counsel to the CEO and ExCO on reputational risk, external affairs, and stakeholder engagement.
Lead internal engagement, including leadership messaging, internal communications.
Oversee marketing activity across audiences and product segments, ensuring measurable impact on acquisition, retention, and brand positioning.
Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Manage relationships with policymakers, government stakeholders, and industry partners to strengthen reputation and influence.
Champion digital and social engagement strategies that modernise communications and protect trust.
Ensure all communications activity meets regulatory, governance, and compliance standards.
Skills & Experience
Extensive experience as a Head of or Director of Corporate Communications, Media Relations or similar field with experience in marketing, ideally within regulated, complex, or international organisations.
Strong track record in, corporate communications, crisis communications, brand strategy and public affairs.
Experience of managing issues and crisis communications at senior level.
Experience of working in a regulated environment, with an understanding of PRA and FCA requirements.
Proven ability to engage stakeholders including media, policymakers, and senior leaders.
Digital and social media expertise with a track record of modernising engagement approaches.
Experienced leader with ability to build, inspire, and develop teams.
Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills.
