Job Description:

At Sizewell B Power Station, we operate the only PWR in the UK, accredited to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard. Sizewell B was the first nuclear power plant in Europe to achieve this standard. As an Engineer, you’ll focus on Radioactive Substances Regulation, with opportunities to work flexibly across different responsibilities to ensure environmental and radiological compliance.

Pay, benefits and culture

The starting salary is from £55,000, up to £75,000 for experienced engineers. Benefits include a market-leading pension scheme, enhanced parental leave, electric vehicle leasing, health insurance, product discounts, critical illness insurance, technology vouchers, gym membership, and season ticket loans.

EDF UK promotes flexibility and supports a collaborative, safe, and inclusive environment, whether working remotely, on-site, or in offices. We value diversity and are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, supporting applications from all backgrounds and providing reasonable adjustments upon request.

We foster a dynamic environment where diverse backgrounds drive innovation. Success is personal, and we support your career journey to meet your individual goals.

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities will include:

* Assessing radioactive discharges and environmental monitoring
* Managing radioactive waste storage and disposal
* Providing radiological protection advice
* Reviewing outage programs and developing radiological protection plans
* Overseeing radiation dose assessments and radiological monitoring
* Supporting training related to radiological protection and regulations

After training, you may become an Accredited Radioactive Waste Engineer or Accredited Health Physicist. You will also participate in emergency response roles, residing within approximately 25 miles of the station.

Who you are

You should have an HNC or Level 4 qualification, with preferable experience in Radioactive Substances Regulations and working in regulated environments. Strong organizational, communication, and management skills are essential, along with a proactive and positive approach to technical issues. You must meet UK residency requirements for security vetting.

Application deadline: Sunday 20th October 2024

Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
